The Economic Development Alliance is an independent nonprofit (501(c)3) organization, has the mission to promote economic success in the rural communities of Northeast Michigan.
We support entrepreneurship with business planning, a resource library supplied by the SBDC, and technical support, because in rural communities, jobs come from startups, small businesses, and family enterprises.
Through the Oscoda Arts Council the work of local musicians and artists are showcased, and promoted at the Skyline Event Center. Studies have shown that the arts can form a key role in the economic success of a community, allowing families to thrive. Through the Timberland Quilt Trail (and other regional trails) take our art and culture out into the farms and towns, bringing visitors to the rural communities of NE Michigan.
We provide adult and business educational opportunities. Lifelong learning opportunities—degree completion, special skills training, or community education—forms the foundation for thriving communities, their business, families, and institutions..
We encourage Community Connections because when we spend our money on local activities, businesses, artists, musicians, goods and services, those dollars remain and circulate to support the entire community.
